MUSCAT: Thawani Technologies Company has signed an agreement with Oman Oil Marketing Company to activate an innovative e-payment services at all Oman Oil stations across the Sultanate of Oman. The new agreement follows the successful implementation of pilot e-payment service project introduced in four stations in the Governorate of Muscat in 2018.
On the new agreement, Majid bin Fayil Al Amri, Founder and CEO of Thawani, said, “The e-payment services provided by Thawani at Oman Oil stations will certainly augment the user experience and meet the growing demand for digital payments. The presence of Thawani e-payment services at stations will support Oman Oil’s digital transformation plan.’

The e-payment platform in our service stations will elevate our customers’ experiences by bringing together flexibility, convenience and innovation at their fingertips. The use of an e-Wallet on all our service stations is an additional tool OOMCO offers all customers. This new service is part of our Digital journey and illustrates how customer-centric our company has become while being the 1st fuel Marketer to introduce such a practical payment tool beside cards and cash. We are continuously rethinking the whole customer journey and designing new concepts of Service Stations (mobile SS, MEGA Service Station…) to surpass customer expectations: we implement smarter solutions for their everyday use, beyond all basic needs. As per our Vision we are creating our service stations as service hubs with Shops, Restaurants and various new Services”.
To make payment in the service stations, users will need to add their car number or phone number in the app, and at the station, they must give the filler one of these numbers. And the filler will type it in the filler machine and then users will receive “Wayyak” the smart invoice. Next all what the user should do is to accept and authenticate payment.

Users can download the Thawani app from the Apple Store or Google Play to manage their finances. All ‘Thawani’ app users are assured of keeping their banking data completely private. Users will not have to share any card, bank, or account information at any point to complete transactions. The application is in line with the Central Bank of Oman’s regulations and maintains the international PCI DSS standards for data integrity and secure encryption.
Everything from its set-up and creating an account to using the app on a day-to-day basis has been designed around simplicity. The aim of Thawani app is to introduce a new alternative payment method that would not only be simple to use but one that would always work, help people budget better, while adhering to the highest standards of security, both for customers and merchants alike.
The Thawani platform was founded on March 2016 marking the beginning of a new era of easy and secure e-payment solutions in the Sultanate of Oman. The pioneer e-payment platform has seen steady growth during the last few months and gained the trust of both users and merchants in Oman.
